Saratoga Sod Farm History

The farm is located in the fertile Hudson River Valley about 30 miles north of Albany. The history of the farm is as rich as its soil--bordered on three sides by the Saratoga National Historical Park. The Griffen family history may not be quite as colorful as the "Battle of Saratoga," but it is definitely rich in agriculture. The Griffens have been farming in Saratoga County since Jonathan Griffen settled here in 1786, and now, more than 200 years and seven generations later, we are still at it!

Over the years we have learned the value of hard work and dedication to the family business-- producing consistent, high quality products, and providing reliable, timely service. Today, we continue to commit our undivided attention, resources and energies to you, our valued customer.

At Saratoga Sod, we are proud of the high quality sod we grow, and even prouder to give our customers the service they deserve at true wholesale prices. So when you are making the smart decision to use sod, remember Saratoga Sod. The bottom line is: we are experienced, have the most up-to-date technology, and over 200 years of local family pride that won't let us be second best.
